Breaking the Diet Cycle
If diets worked, you would only need one, right?
Have you ever noticed that there are certain times of year, or life events that spark a desire to change our bodies? New Year's Day, spring and summer, weddings, graduations and reunions are a few that come to mind. Something about these events triggers us to see the "flaws" in our physical appearance and gets us stuck in the "diet trap" cycle once again.
We may try something that has "worked" in the past, or branch out and try something new. The novelty of starting a new plan is exciting! We tell ourselves that this one will be "the one", that we wont' fall off the wagon, and that we will magically no longer see the appeal of foods we once loved. Our desire for dessert will be met by eating an apple, and pizza will be just as good with a cauliflower crust.
Sound familiar? That's because the 'Diet Trap" is predictable, as are the results. For 95% of us, we won't be able to sustain the changes and we'll return to "normal eating". We'll stay in this pattern of normal eating for awhile, but as the guilt builds up, we'll lick our wounds and start all over again.
BUT, what if you didn't?
